I've got it working (See Popular topics widget on Nerdface), but I needed to borrow a bit of code from XDinc 's collapsible sections add-on to get it working as expected.. I'm happy to share if he's ok with it.

Now I just need to fix the styling and this is EPIC..

Sadly it seems to not play very well with some widgets, particularly those that run additional scripts such as carousels.

Some strange behavior can be seen on the 'Lastest media' widget on Nerdface for example. The collapse / extend functionality works and saves, but try this;

1. Collapse the widget
2. Refresh the page
3. Expand the widget

The widget does not expand correctly, it takes another page refresh to load the carousel. Any thoughts whether this can be fixed?
